Please Sign on the Petition to Seek Truth About the Two Tiananmen Tank Men
The iconic image on Beijing’s Tiananmen Square bravely confronting PLA tanks is one of the most important photographs of the twentieth century. It represents ordinary citizens confronting the State violence, and it is not forgotten by history. Over more than two decades, the whole world has been asking: Where is the tank man? As of today, the background of the tank man ~Wang Weilin,~ and his subsequent fate are still unknown to the world. At the same time, we should not forget that, despite the CCP!!!s massacre order, the soldier in the tank chose not to shoot or run over his compatriot. The most logical explanation is that his conscience made him disobey the order. This soldier is equally a hero. As Time magazine pointed out: “[T]he heroes of the tank picture are two: the unknown figure who risked his life by standing in front of the juggernaut and the driver who rose to the moral challenge by refusing to mow down his compatriot. ~
Nobody knows the fate of the two heroes, but it is our responsibility to know and to find them. For together, they symbolize that timeless truth that moral courage will triumph over cowardly cruelty.
We hereby launch the initiative of collecting signatures across the world to petition Xi Jinping for the identities, background, and the whereabouts of the two tank men. La photo mondialement connue de l’homme arrêtant courageusement les tanks sur la place Tian’anmen est l’une des photos les plus importantes du XXème siècle. Elle représente la façon dont des citoyens ordinaires peuvent braver la violence de l’Etat. Depuis plus de deux décennies, le monde entier a posé la question : « Mais où est passé l’homme devant le char ? » Jusqu’à ce jour l’identité de celui que l’on a pris l’habitude d’appeler « Wang Weilin », et le destin qu’il aura connu après son geste de bravoure, restent inconnus.
Mais nous ne pouvons pas non plus oublier qu’il y a également eu un soldat qui a bravé les ordres donnés par le Parti communiste chinois de procéder à un massacre et qui a choisi de ne pas tirer sur son compatriote ni l’écraser sous ses chenilles. L’explication la plus logique à son attitude est qu’il a obéi à sa conscience avant d’obéir aux ordres. Ce soldat est également un héros, comme l’avait souligné Time magazine ; « Il y a deux héros sur la photo de l’homme devant le tank : ce personnage inconnu qui a risqué sa vie en se tenant debout devant l’énorme masse du char, et le chauffeur qui a relevé un défi moral en refusant de faucher son compatriote. »
Personne ne connaît le destin de ces deux héros, mais il relève de notre responsabilité de les retrouver et de savoir. Car, à eux deux, ils symbolisent cette vérité éternelle selon laquelle le courage moral triomphera sur la lache cruauté.
Nous lançons ainsi une initiative : rassembler des signatures de par le monde pour demander à Xi Jinping des informations concernant l’identité, le passé, et le lieu de séjour actuel des deux « tank men ».
Nous vous prions de signer cette pétition et d’encourager d’autres personnes à signer également. Il n’y a pas de date limite à notre projet et nous continuerons à collecter des signatures jusqu’à ce que nous ayons obtenu la vérité.

Kampagne zur Suche nach den beiden Tiananmen „Tank Man“
Eine der wichtigsten Fotografien des 20. Jahrhunderts ist das ikonenhaften Foto auf der Beijing Changan Avenue: ein einzelner Mann stellt sich einer Panzer-Kolonne entgegen. Dieses Foto ist ein Symbol für das Massaker auf dem Tiananmen-Platz von 1989. Seit über 20 Jahren fragt die Welt: wo ist dieser „Tank Man“? Bis heute weiß man fast nichts über diesen „Tank Man“ namens Wang Weilin; weder von seiner Herkunft noch von seinem Schicksal nach der Heldentat. Gleichzeitig dürfen wir den Panzerfahrer nicht vergessen, der gegenüber Wang Weilin den Panzer steuerte. Er hat seinen Landsmann nicht getötet, obwohl er den Befehl zum Töten erhielt. Folglich kann man vermuten, dass er den Befehl verweigerte. Damit hat er sich als ein Held ausgewiesen. Das amerikanische TIME Magazin schrieb dazu: auf diesem ikonenhaften Bild sind zwei Helden–der unbekannte Mann, der sein Leben riskiert und sich allein gegen eine Panzer-Kolonne stellt, und der Soldat, der den Panzer steuert und sich verweigert, seinen Landsmann zu töten. Die Schicksale der Beiden Männer sind bis heute unbekannt. Aber wir haben die Pflicht, nach den beiden zu suchen.

Firma la petizione per conoscere la verità sui due uomini del carro armato di Tienanmen
L!!!iconica immagine della Piazza Tienanmen a Pechino che coraggiosamente affronta i carri armati dell!!!Esercito Popolare di Liberazione, è una delle più importanti fotografie del XX secolo. Essa rappresenta ordinari cittadini che si oppongono alla violenza dello Stato e non sarà mai dimenticata dalla storia. Da oltre due decadi, il mondo intero si chiede: Dov!!!è il ragazzo del carro armato? Ad oggi, la storia del ribelle sconosciuto ~Wang Weilin~ e il suo destino sono ancora ignoti al mondo. Allo stesso tempo, non dobbiamo dimenticare che, nonostante l!!!ordine di far fuoco impartito dal Partito Comunista Cinese, il soldato nel carro armato decise di non sparare e di non travolgere il suo compatriota. La spiegazione più logica è che la sua coscienza lo portò a disobbedire all!!!ordine ricevuto. Anche questo soldato è un eroe. La imagen icónica de los valientes de la Plaza de Tiananmen en Beijing siendo violentamente confrontados por los tanques del Ejército Popular de Liberación, es una de las fotografías más importantes del siglo XX. Representa a ciudadanos comunes haciendo frente a la violencia del Estado, y la historia no lo olvida. Por más de dos décadas, todo el mundo se ha preguntado: ¿dónde está ese hombre que enfrentó al tanque? Al día de hoy, la historia de ese hombre del tanque “Wang Weilin”, y su subsecuente destino son desconocidos para el mundo. Al mismo tiempo, no deberíamos olvidar que, más allá de la orden de masacre del Partido Comunista Chino, el soldado en el tanque decidió no disparar o atropellar a su compatriota. La explicación más lógica es que su conciencia lo hizo desobedecer la orden. Este soldado es igualmente un héroe. Tal como destacó la revista Time: “Los héroes de la foto del tanque son dos: la figura desconocida que arriesgó su vida al pararse frente al gigante y el conductor que estuvo a la altura del desafío moral al negarse a atropellar a su compatriota”.
Nadie conoce el destino de estos dos héroes, pero es nuestra responsabilidad conocerlos y encontrarlos. Ya que juntos simbolizan la imperecedera verdad de que la valentía moral triunfará sobre la crueldad cobarde.
