Dr. Wang Bingzhang is one of the father of the Chinese democracy movement. He pursued his studies (Phd at McGill, Montreal) and this experience of political freedom convinced him to devote his life to promote democracy in his home country. He founded a magazine “China Spring” that became so influent that Chinese authorities started to warn Chinese overseas against the “China Spring effect”.Dr Bingzhang has lived in a dark 20 m2 cell for over 11 years. Please note that solitary confinement, for long periods of time, is a form of torture. This has resulted in serious health problems: Bingzhang has had several strokes in prison and suffers from serious and untreated depression. His sister Mei visited him on Aug 6th: he looks a lot older than his actual 65th years old, cannot make eye contacts or sustain a sensible conversation. We urge you to press your government to raise his case with China’s Pdt Xi Jinping. There is an urgent need to press for his release on humanitarian grounds.
王炳章博士是中国民主运动之父之一。他的学术研究探索（加拿大蒙特利尔的麦吉尔大学博士）和政治自由的体验，促使他把自己的一生投入到在他的祖国促进民主的事业。他创建了《中国之春》杂志，其发展影响之大，以至于中共当局要警告海外华人去反对“中国之春效应”。王炳章博士被单独关押在20平米的黑暗牢房中已经超过11年。请注意，长时间的关禁闭，属于一种酷刑。这已经造成了严重的健康问题：王炳章在监狱中有过几次中风，并患有未经治疗的严重抑郁症。他妹妹王梅在8月6日探监时见到，他看上去远比他65岁的实际年龄苍老得多，谈话时眼神无法接触，也无法维持有意义的交谈。我们呼吁您对您的政府施压，向中国国家主席习近平交涉王炳章的案子。目前非常紧急地需要基于人道理由释放他。
